Sealake Products

Our aim is to promote traditional crafts where ever we can. Our socks are made using traditional equipment in a specialist workshop. Our lace is made in Nottingham by a company who still use 200 year old wooden knitting frames. We also commission local hand knitters to make garments and home textiles from our Kid Yarns. Meet our Cute and Fluffy Workforce

Our Angora Goats

Mohair comes from Angora Goats an ancient breed originating in the Middle East. Descriptions of their highly valued shining locks, go back many thousands of years. They are a fairly recent import into the UK, the major flocks are kept in the USA and South Africa.

They are friendly intelligent and make endearing pets. Angoras need to have their hair cut twice a year as it grows at the rate of an inch a month. They don't like cold and wet conditions so have to be housed in winter here in the UK. For information and advice about keeping Angora Goats contact the British Angora Goat Society.

Location

The landscape photographs on this site are of our farm, the fields around the Mere and nearby Hornsea beach ( just as the mist rolled in from the north sea ).
